The Electric Acid Surfboard Test is a product of its time.

There was once a time when minds were closed and surfboards universally generic. Performance was everything, which was fine for those with an exceptional surfing skill set, but pretty lousy for everyone else. Thankfully we now live in more accepting times, where no craft is a faux pas (except the life-threatening SUP and foil in the hands of the unskilled), so we decided to celebrate with a film. The Electric Acid Surfboard Test is what eventuated, first with Dane Reynolds, and secondly with Stephanie Gilmore. We’re feeling festive, so along with our amigos at Corona we’ve decided to give away the crafts (featuring shapers like Shawn Stussy, MR, Joel Fitzgerald, among others…) from Steph’s test.

Don’t fret, there’s a few hi-fi silhouettes in there.

Serious question. You win one of these 10 artworks, complete with wax dirtied by the feet of a genuine surfing Queen, then what? You gunna wax it up and hit the mediocre beachie down the road? Buy a pub with rafters start a collection for that surf dive-bar feel (great on the rare occasion that it’s done well)? Flog it on gumtree (ahem)?

Well that’s the thing isn’t it. You win one, you do onto it what you will. We’d suggest expanding your horizons and riding them, although we can’t vouch that you’ll pilot them anywhere near as elegantly as our beloved Stephanie Gilmore. If your prize is too fruity for you to keep in trim then you can always mount it on the wall.

The Queen surveying her (soon to be “your”) subjects.

If you’re in the market for what is, essentially, a priceless surfboard, then what you have to do is quite simple. It’s a straight swap. Your email address and 25 words of creative prose, then one of the crafts could be yours. For the question we’ve decided to give you a gentle nudge in the direction, then let your mastery of the written word fill in the gaps. All you have to do is try to commit to the page the surfing aesthetics of the undisputed greatest female surfer of all time, Miss Stephanie Gilmore. Hit the link below to enter. Go well.
