Meet Scott Trattner, Creative Director Of Facebook
Culture Shifters.
We can’t all be professional surfers. We work to surf. It’s why we at Stab come into the office daily, source pictures, do interviews, tap keys, film, edit and post in strides to satisfy our and your insatiable salt water appetite. The point is we, like you are everyday surfers who gather over the simple phenomena of foam, fibreglass and waves. Wave riding allows the minds to churn differently. And as cliché it is to call surfing an art form, it is. From the lines drawn, the art of board building and the fact that our recreation exists in a constant state of adaptation, it’s no surprise that surfing breeds innovation. So, we introduce you to our first instalment of a series called Culture Shifters with House Beer. Here we highlight individuals with society moulding occupations who happen to be handy in the brine.
In autumn we made our way up to San Francisco to meet Scott Trattner, the creative director of Facebook. If you don’t know Scott, you’ll recognise his work with Apple. He’s the spirit behind the classic Mac vs PC commercials starring Justin Long and John Hodgman. He also held an integral part of launching the original iPhone, which you probably have in hand at the moment. Post Apple, Facebook recruited him and built the Creative Director position around him. If anything, this is just a friendly reminder to keep your day job.
