We Want To Pay For You To Get Schooled By Brian Bielmann In Hawaii

A contest worth entering: Brian Bielmann x #stabfullframe x O’Neill x Developing Legends.

We spend so much time on social media, almost two full hours a day, and that number’s growing. That’s a heck of a lot of image and video running down our screens – and a lot of additional data charges on the monthly love letter from your service provider. Data is the new world currency, so wouldn’t you prefer to have yours spent on worthy viewing? Here at Stab we’re always looking at ways in which we can help raise the bar on the material we spend most of our days scrolling through; surf photography. So, when we were informed that a certain superstar lensman was going to be hosting intimate workshops in Hawaii, surfing’s most photogenic locale, during peak winter season, we decided it was necessary that we assisted.

It was around 1978 when Brian Bielmann first decided that pointing hunks of metal and glass at surfers was what he was going to do for the rest of his life. His images have graced the covers of over one hundred and fifty surfing publications throughout the entire analogue-to-digital transitional epoch. Brian’s now at a point where he’s ready to pass on his lens-wisdom to the next generation. Together with the gang at Developing Legends, he’ll be hosting an elite photography school on the North Shore from January 22nd to 25th, the exact time the entire surfing populace comes to town to shake their tails in the world’s most exciting waves. Even if you don’t click a single frame over there, it’ll be the coolest school excursion you’ve ever been on.

What does Stab have to do with any of this? We’re going to pay the airfare to fly one talented lensman over to Hawaii with their name on the class roll to get taught how to shoot like Brian Bielmann. After a long day clicking frames of Kelly and John tag-teaming perfect Pipe, you can retire to your complimentary room at the Turtle Bay Resort to file selects and rest those tired eyes.

So, you want to have a swing? Much like our current monthly #stabfullframe x @oneillusa competition, you’ve gotta dig up your finest frames, post on Instagram tagging #stabfullframe, @oneillusa, @developinglegends and @turtlebayresort then email your full name, address and the link to your post/s (you can enter more than once!) to [email protected].

We’ll be reviewing the entries as they come through and each week we’ll select one to feature on our website and social media, these weekly winners will also receive a prize pack from the crew over at O’Neill. Lastly, Brian will decide from the entries which frame moves him the most – the owner of which will be packing their bags for the Seven Mile Miracle. Simple enough? We hope so.

The nitty gritty:

-Competition starts: 8th November 2016
-Competition ends: 30th November 2016
-Winner announced: 9th December 2016
-Workshop: 22nd – 25th January 2017
