Stab High Is Live Right Now!

BSR Cablepark is an adult playground, but it’s good for kids too!

The past few days that we’ve had it rented out, there have been few rules and rare supervision. No strange overlord putting your every move under a microscope. It’s a unique place – has the feeling of a very rich and eccentric friend’s home, who made a wave and has plenty of off road toys to play with. 

There’s a certain freedom felt here. It’s a vibe that’s palpable. Needless to say, we’ve enjoyed ourselves. 

Today, Stab High is on. It’s been a long lead up, and a lot of figuring out a slew of things we have (or had) no idea how to do.

Right, the jumbotrons are lining the pool. The stage for our after party band, Poolside, is set. XL fans are placed on the wall the wave runs along for optimal air wind. 

It doesn’t feel in the least bit like a professional surfing competition. Which is nice. 

Yesterday, we ran warm up “heats” all day. There were no scores. Just grown men playing on foam and fiberglass toys in a water. 

“I think I got it!’ Mason Ho told us. “What you do is, do something you know you can’t do. And if you don’t land it, try it again. And maybe you’ll make it.” Which seems like a sound enough plan. He was doing supermans, big full rotes, inverted spins, judo kicks and was sticking them yesterday – so something’s working. 

Stab High is happening at this very moment. The first heat is in the water at 12:30 local time. There’s a crowd trickling in. We’re curious to see what a surf contest in the heart of Central Texas entails.
