Socklyfe: Chippa Wilson

When was it… Like, three or four years ago, Stab legged it to Tenerife, Canary Islands (sounds simple, but we travelled 38-goddamn-hours to get there from Sydney) to shoot some choreographed hi-fi  surfing in a wave pool. At the close of the trip, one of the stars, Kolohe Andino left us a garbage bag full of these new things called Stance socks. Real pretty things, we remember. They featured aggressive colour splashes, mismatched stripes, etc. Very punk. Anyhow, fast track to now, Stance have blossomed from being a hip niche brand to this huge international monster. One of our/your favourite punks, Chippa Wilson gets to slide into them everyday, as an ambassador. Stab: Did you ever expect to be sponsored by a sock company? Chippa: I didn’t, it’s really flipping cool. Very happy to be apart of the Stance punks and poets. Has your sock game helped your overall style? I do, before Stance all I had were cheap old and worn socks. Now they are freshhhhhhhhhh. How many pairs of socks do you currently own? Hundreds (laughs). Has your sock game ever helped you find the company of a woman? It’s definitely keeping my lady happy – she doesn’t have to put up with smelly feet and she gets socks too.
