Kelly Slater urges you to bring home the bula

Capitalism: The world’s way of determining who is smart, and who is indigent. Indigent? Not being able to afford to buy clothes you like. Smart? Owning a clothing brand, so you never even have to pay for clothes. Someone who would fall into the more clever category is Kelly Slater. And Stab loves him for that (on top of a good handful of other things).

Kelly founded the privately-held brand, Outerknown in 2014. Since then, it’s grown into a multi-thread count behemoth. As mentioned, Stab is particularly appreciative of Mr Slater’s laissez-faire hustle. So, when we heard Outerknown would be the official sponsor of the upcoming Fiji Pro, we gave him a digital pat on the back. And now that he’s released a limited edition range of clothes to commemorate the event, we’re giving him another one.

Clean, simple, subtle.

There are boardshorts, pocket tees, button-ups and plenty more. You can even pick up an “OK Fiji Pro” Hydro Flask (fashion and function!). And seeing as Outerknown is the hyper-environmentally conscious Formula One — elite, high-performance, machine engineered — of surf clothing, you can bet all the goods are top of the line quality, and won’t waste away after a few cycles in the wash. Get after them here.

The free market is a beautiful, brutal jungle and like a beautiful, brutal jungle it should be left alone unless you can navigate it expertly! Thank the good Laird Kelly knows his ins and outs.

Owning a clothing brand and sponsoring an event you’re surfing in with said brand? Not bad.
