Stab AM: These New Yorkers Have One Of The Best Surf Podcasts Going
Tyler Breur and Ben Pomeroy’s Swell Season is prime surf talk with a Five Borough filter.
Highway miles are part of the program for a surfer with any semblance of dedication, and during those long, lonely stretches through dusty trails, it’s nice to have some company.
New York surfers Ben Pomeroy and Tyler Breur have beeen taking full advantage of Swell Season’s 8pm Tuesday time slot at KPISS (“The Golden Stream”), hosting legend after legend as they pass through the Five Boroughs, as well as the City’s myriad colorful characters.
While Stab‘s never been acquainted with Mr. Pomeroy, our Editor wishes he could sing out Breur’s praises from Brooklyn rooftops. A big, handsome goofyfoot, Breur holds a special place in the New York surf scene, raised in his family’s legendary Levittown surf and ski outpost, Sundown, and one of Long Island’s most talented surfers. After studying at Flagler College and The New School, Tyler later formed the New York Surf Film Festival, along with surfer/writer Michael Machemer and Adam Cannizzaro.
Breur brings his decades of surfy cultural capital to the mic each week, and the conversations are some of the finest in the Podcast Chat genre. This week the boys sat down with Pulitzer Prize winner William Finnegan, which is well worth the listen below, though we’ll do you the service of posting a few of our other favorites, as well.
