Who Wouldn’t Want To Ride A Dane Reynolds Hand-Shape?

Come watch the Vans team test their homemade foam at maxing Haleiwa.

This year, in conjunction with their Triple Crown partnership, Vans decided to mix-up the Duct Tape Festival (a spin-off of the Joel Tudor inspired Duct Tape Invitational logging competition) into something that was more conducive to large Hawaiian surf. First run in Tofino earlier this year, the idea is simple but brilliant one: get several Vans team riders (Dane Reynolds, Nathan Fletcher, Alex Knost, and Wade Goodall) to hand-shape two surfboards and bring them to the North Shore. Those boards will then be ridden by a bevy of Vans team riders, and then left on the North Shore for local groms and gromettes to enjoy.

The above video details an extraordinary day of board-testing at oversized Haleiwa. Sadly, Dane was unable to attend the event on account of devastating fires in his hometown, but the Reynolds boards did eventually arrive and are currently available for use, along with the six other Vans boards, at the HIC Surf Shop in Haleiwa.

Also, Wade Goodall, what the hell man? That style, the control, and those turns on a 7’0? Get your ass on tour!
