Yago Dora Bangs Pipe And Haleiwa, Gets His WSL Mug Shot Taken
If you’re not vlogging it, did it even happen?
It’s (semi) official now: If you don’t have a vlog, you’re not a pro surfer in 2025.
Yago Dora, aka Skinny Goat, has just dropped the first episode of his vlog series — documenting the highs, the lows, and the in-betweens of his 2025 North Shore season.
Just off the jet, his first stop is the Gerry Lopez/Volcom house — his temporary island residence. Within sight, a big, messy Pipeline looms like a final boss on a groggy day off. It doesn’t stop Yago from mind-surfing it.
No ledges to throw yourself off of makes for an ideal prep day. Does Yago sometimes wonder how much he could accomplish with all the time he spends meticulously slapping logos on fresh foam? Probably.
Haleiwa provides a chunky alternative to Pipe, with enough bend for getting in some backhand reps on a 6’4” alongside CTers Liam O’Brien, George Pittar, Ethan Ewing, and his Brazilian protégé Anuar Chiah. A fin to the forehead leaves a minor nick, but hardly worth an ice pack.

No better way to celebrate dodging a head wound than with a spicy tuna and açaí stop at Pupukea Grill — “I wait all year for that,” Yago says. Mason Ho, North Shore’s mayor of good vibes, swings by mid-meal for a bonus chat.
A trip to town to collect fresh surfboard cargo — a rainbow-hued batch of sleds from Matt Biolos — plus media obligations, a rare BTS look at how those WSL headshots are made, and a stop at the WSL Awards at Turtle Bay, where his shaper Matt Biolos is officially crowned CT Shaper of the Year, offer some voyeuristic satisfaction and a peek into the moves of Yago and his entourage.
It’s not all fun and games, but still worth vlogging about.
