Who Wasn’t In Panama Two Years Ago?

In the world of Big Waves, there’s only so many places one can go to get their fix.

This often results in ‘big wave guys’ running into their like-minded friends by complete happenstance all over the world. For us ‘regular’ surfers there are few places that have such a draw, and the ones that do often wind up too crowded to actually enjoy. 

Enter: Bocas del Toro

This Panamanian dreamscape is the preferred Central American location for many a traveling pro, and why exactly you may ask? With an abundance of A-frame teepees and many a bone chilling slab for the bigger days, you can plop a stack of the world’s best within a few miles of each other without constraining this precious resource.

Here we see everyone from East Coast heavies like the Geisel Bro’s and Cory Lopez, undergrounders like Simon Hetrick and Lucas Rogers, and traveling pros like Nathan Florence and Eithan all enjoy the same stretch of sand. If you’re Christian Oehmke (this clip’s filmer/editor) your job doesn’t get much easier than this. Literally point, shoot, and you’re likely to get a clip of someone getting spat out.
