Watch: William Aliotti’s Mind-Bending Euro Trip
This is what the Stab Highway Naz Challenge should’ve looked like.
Throughout history, people have described having profound religious experiences while using psychedelic substances such as psilocybin mushrooms.
In many instances, visions of what the individual perceives as “God” or the “ultimate reality” take place. This often leads self-identified atheists to shed that label following the encounter.
While strolling through the Landes forest, William Aliotti finds a hearty portion of magic mushrooms which he promptly consumes before meeting the deity. “God” has been described to take many shapes and forms. When Aliotti met him, he wore a polyester hospital gown, adorned his face with Egyptian motif gold-leaf makeup, and presented the French goofyfoot with a purple twin fin set.
God does William a solid, and drives him to Mundaka in his circa 1960 red Corvette. In the small Basque harbor town, he embarks on a mind-altering revelatory journey in the overhead freight trains. The session becomes a catalyst to test and push the boundaries “on what’s possible with twin fins.”
Heading south, he scores Supertubos, optimistically pulls into a closeout in Ericeira that seems to stretch all the way down to Morocco, and slices his hand open in the process.
Stitched up, gloved up, and strapped up, William continues his inquisitive twin-ruddered trip at God’s son’s home break, Nazaré, where he gets towed into the XXL mounts by none other than the Almighty himself.
William’s journey comes to an end just where it started — in all-time Hossegor conditions — further supporting the maxim that the best part of a trip is coming home.
