After the opening round of the Vans Pipe Masters, three of the top four women are 20-years-old or younger — as are seven of the Top 10. 

All of the consequential tuberiding was done on rights, and most of the consequential turns done on lefts. Caity Simmers and Sophie Bell snagged the Backdoor visions for spots at first and second, while Erin Brooks and Eweleiula Wong exchanged turns on the left to put themselves in third and fourth. 

Granted, none of the surfers in the Top 10 got more than one proper keeper score, leaving room for major changes through the following days.
