Watch: The William Aliotti Surfboard Test
A Frenchman and four asymmetric twin fins walk into a Sumatran resort.
Less than 24 hours after launching our Stab Premium survey, more than a thousand members had weighed in, telling us what they like, what they don’t, and what they’d like to see more of on Stab.
By the way, history has taught us that, if you’re given the chance to vote, it’s probably best not to surrender it. Otherwise, the dimwits end up making the decisions. In this case, the dimwits would be us.
When we asked, “Who should our next Electric Acid star be?” five of you typed William Aliotti.
Today is your day.
William is back on what’s become an annual tradition, heading to Indo to test a fresh quiver of LoveMachines, courtesy of EAST winner Ryan Lovelace and European partner and shaper Vincent Brecqueville.
A couple of things have changed since last year. William is riding under a new insignia, and he’s moved south from the Playgrounds area in the Mentawai archipelago to Krui, on mainland Sumatra.
In the boardbag were a Zambal, a Satellite Step-Up, a Willycopter, and a plain old Satellite — all asymmetric twin fins. William explains what each board is designed to do, then does an even better job of connecting theory with in-water praxis.
