Watch: The Best ‘Shit Waves’ We’ve Seen With Dane Reynolds And Co.
Everything is relative.
Like everything else in life, the quality of waves is entirely relative.
If you grew up on the US east coast, you know what a two-week flat spell looks like. And I mean flat-spell. As in, the wind blows offshore 20 knots every single day, and the swell is literally going out to sea. These are the times when you’d kill from some side-shore, six-second-interval wind slop, just as an excuse to paddle around and get slapped in the face by a few pseudo-swells.
Those are shit waves.
For Californian surfers — and more to the point, elite Californian surfers — ‘shit waves’ range from anything below chest high to winds that are moderately onshore.
…Let’s not get started on Indonesian surfers’ definition of mediocrity.
So in this installment of Chapter 11’s ‘Shit Waves Vol. 3’, we see Dane Reynolds, Eithan Osborne, Micky Clarke and co. surf in some exceptionally fun-looking conditions — at least from the vantage point of a bone-dry east coaster — and others that are slightly less fun but still well worth the paddle. Tune in.
