Watch: Supertubos Could Look Like This (Or Better) Tomorrow
Will the run of sour Portuguese events turn savoury?
The Ripcurl Pro Portugal has seen some baaaad waves (at least at the competition venues) over the past few years. But if we look back to the competitions of 2011 and 2012, we remember that happier days do prevail in the sardine region. When it’s on, Supertubos is as good a beach break as the world has to offer. Luckily for us, the early part of the contest window looks incredible, with solid WNW swell and offshore winds predicted for Saturday (tomorrow) and Sunday. Normally I wouldn’t watch this event live, as the time difference is shit for west coast USA, but if the waves are 10 foot and curling then I might have to chug a few kombuchas and forgo my beauty rest.
The above clip shows what Supers can produce, but tomorrow’s swell looks even bigger than the one in 2011. Everybody eat sardines today for good luck.
