Watch: Pipeline Lights Up!
High resolution snippets from Banzai’s 2018/19 inauguration.
Pipeline was alight this afternoon. What started off as offshore peaks on dawn, steadily jacked to second-reef freight trains as the afternoon rolled on, and at the time of editing proper bombs were being packed.
As promised we cracked the whip and our lensman, Sam Moody, turned an eight hour stint on the sand into a quick highlights cap.
“Every set throughout the day was little bit bigger than the last,” Sam told Stab. “For the entire day the wind was pretty good and lots of people got smoked [as is evident above.]”
At the same time as the above went down, day one of the Vans World Cup of Surfing took place at Sunset. The world’s heavy watermen prepped their gear for a monumental day at Jaws tomorrow. The women get ready for the Maui Pro which will inevitably decide the World Title. And to top it all off the men’s title will be held at (hopefully) cooking Pipe in under a fortnight’s time.
It’s set up to be an enormous, swell-packed number of days over the Hawaiian Islands, and we won’t be missing a minute of it.
Stayed tuned and remember the above is merely an entrée (that’s starter for the Yanks out there).
