Watch: Dane Gudauskas’ ‘Explore Your Mind’
An abundance of variety with a dash of perspective, now playing for free.
You into “energy?”
It’s something that scientists have argued over, shamans have alluded to, and companies have sold in the film of a beverage. Complex, we know. The latest in the world of things that can neither be created nor destroyed comes to us in the form of Dane Gudauskas’ and Alex Kilauano’s surf film ‘Explore Your Mind.’
The piece features Dane’s signature backhand carves, rhythmic movements aboard stubby twin fins, and just about everything outside, or in between.
‘Explore Your Mind’ is divided into four parts, with the final “Gratitude” section being my favorite. Before sifting through an array of surf crafts, Dane says, “ I surf because it makes me a better person.”
It’s a simple quote, but there’s a lot to unpack.
Surfing has the potential to make us all better people, but we don’t always let it. We often let our egos get in the way of making new friends, and middle fingers occupy our space for forgiveness.
Luckily our friends Dane and Alex have laid down a solid blueprint on how to fix that. Not only will it entertain you, but it might also make you look at your quiver — and your home break — a little bit (or a lot) differently.
The film will be playing exclusively on Stab Premium for the next two weeks. Enjoy.
