Watch: Mick Fanning And Joel Parkinson Share A Kirra Tube
Two bros one womb!
Y’ever been surfing on a particularly hollow day and your friend has the idea, “Let’s go doubles!”?
It never ends well.
Typically the tubes are much smaller than perceived, meaning that one person wears a lip to the head while the other gets a stellar pocket ride. Occasionally you both fit in the tube together, but the first guy’s tracks disrupt the follower and he again cops some energy the dome.
Rarely, if ever, does going doubles work as seamlessly as it did for Mick Fanning and Joel Parko yesterday at Kirra (the daily wrap from which is here).
Despite the barrel being small-ish and not especially hollow, the Coolie Kids both managed to disappear from view (Mick for several seconds) before reconvening in the channel. I guess that’s the benefit of having two World Champions tunneling together.
Watch the clip and then watch it again. Just like Joel with the look-back!
