Watch: McKenzie Bowden Passionately Deflowered By South Africa
Sunsets, dancing, and wild animal energy — everything you could dream of for your first time.
Tis’ the season of firsts for McKenzie Bowden. First time in South Africa, first time encountering a wild antelope, and, most importantly, his first dalliance into the curious world of vlogging.
McKenzie’s latest YouTube upload is a refreshing departure from the typical surf vlog scene, which appears to be glory-hogged by sensationalist video titles and near-death experiences. Instead, McKenzie may have found a new niche — a vlog that shows us how to live well and reminds us that things aren’t as serious as they often seem.
The last time the New Zealander was featured on this site, his head was being patchily circumnavigated by a pair of rustic clippers on Stab Highway Europe. Before that, he made beautiful mockery of surf clichés in Stab’s ‘That Guy’ series.
Two years ago, McKenzie regaled us with tales of his childhood, from living in a bus and playing pool with piss-stinking old men, to his memorable final QS performance where, at years end, he landed a commendable 1042nd in the world. He also shared this: “I think my life will be complete if I ever make it to surf those righthand points in Jbay.”
So, what now, Mr. ThankYouPlease?
