Watch: Matt Wilko’s Brush With Dismemberment!

Mick Fanning once punched a Great White shark in the nose on live television. Yesterday, Matt Wilkinson paddled unknowingly as a shark of unknown quality and race grazed his toe.  Both are Australian heroes.  The footage above was captured by Surf Life Saving New South Wales on their specialized shark drone. When the clubby steering the drone saw what was going on, he alerted the surfer—who happened to be former World Title frontrunner Matt Wilkinson—that there was a shark in the area and he should exit the water. As only a man with the balls to wear a bare-titty would do, Matt leisurely started making his way to shore, at which point the shark swam beneath, behind, and eventually straight toward the beloved Australian, nearly brushing Wilko’s toe before realizing who he was dealing with and scurrying the fuck home. Wilko, apparently, had no idea what had happened until after he saw the footage. At which point he presumably said, “Aw, it’s just a little guy,” and paddled back out.   Just another weekend at Wilko’s.
