Watch: Kelly, Gabs And The Wright Fam At Snapper (No Jerseys!)

How to crush playful waves.

Words by stab

Today, the Quiksilver Pro, Gold Coast was wildly entertaining. Ethan Ewing surfed the highest-scoring debut wave any rookie has ever surfed, Joel Parkinson and Joan Duru did furious battle, Gabriel Medina risked his knee with a crunchy flip landing, and far more.

But. While keeping a close eye on the contest, Stab and Corona have also been capturing all the best action in the peripherals of the event. Namely, for the purposes of this clip, yesterday’s warm-ups. Kelly Slater lights up, wearing OuterKnown trunks and sporting an OK sticker on board (something he changed after his loss this morning, instead paddling out for his afternoon sudden death in Volcom trunks with blank board… is the Champ that superstitious? Either way, he progressed). All three Wright siblings – Owen, Tyler and Mikey, who all progressed in the contest today – look razor sharp, athletic and… ready. And you must certainly watch til the end for Gabriel Medina’s closing wave. Yowser.

Catch Stab x Corona‘s Beach Chair with Jack Freestone here, or the Quik Pro warm-ups here and here, and keep it locked for more special features coming shortly.
