Watch John Florence Puncture The Stratosphere In Preparation For His El Salvador Win
Some familiar looking oops at offseason Backdoor.
En route to his first CT event win of the past three years, John Florence jettisoned an absurd alley-oop to collect the 18th ten-point-ride of his career.
As you’ll see above, he spent his final session before El Salvador practicing these exact oops at home.
JJF was injured in every single season between 2018-2022, years in which he did some of his best heat surfing and looked poised to add more World Titles to his collection. Since 2023, JJF has managed to stay relatively injury free and recently achieved his first CT win in over three years at El Salvador. The yellow-clad Florence Founder is currently more than 10,000 points ahead of Robbo in #2, and has officially clinched a spot at Trestles.
Equally intriguing for the Florence fandom, is the announcement of Cloudbreak as the 2025 finals venue.
Since becoming a Daddy this year, there’s been whispers of John hanging up the jersey for good at the conclusion of this season. However, if Fiji is to become the new title-deciding venue surely he would be having second thoughts about collecting some more silverware.
John has made at least the quarterfinals in four of five events surfed in Fiji, with his worst result coming in 2017 with a 13th (lost in Rd 3 to Leo Fioravanti). He’s also collected three perfect 10s in Fiji.
