Watch: High Performance Finless Surfing

Oh, Ari Browne, you’re too good for us. Ari is part of a new surf wave, much of which has blossomed in Byron Bay, focused around drifting without fins. But, this isn’t the dull, small-wave sliding you’re picturing. This is next-level, high performance surfing done on a finless craft. In-the-pocket reverses, tail blows, and barrel riding – the latter of which is hard enough with rudders, let alone without. Ari took a trip to Bali and, when not satirising the Australian tourism culture, went to work on some canvases that most would only approach with a regular thruster. This is wildly good surfing – just not the kind we’re used to.
