Watch: Further Proof that the East Coast is the Best Coast

Noah Schweizer and Cam Richards star in ‘Ditch Pickle’.

The east coast of the US has better waves than the west coast of the US. This hill, I will die on.

Of course, the term “better” is subjective.

Some people like riding very big waves. I will happily admit that California, Oregon and beyond have larger swells and superior setups for that particular form of waveriding.

Some people like riding very small, long waves that are disproportionately dangerous. It’s true, the east coast has nothing that compares with Malibu or San-O.

But I believe that most people reading this would prefer a slightly-overhead beachbreak with consistent tube/turn/air sections and minimal crowd over just about anything on earth. For this, the east coast is undoubtedly better.

Noah Schweizer and Cam Richards both grew up on the east coast. By way of their careers as pro surfers, both eventually migrated west to be closer to the “industry”. While this had its occupational benefits, a boy can only see so many LA closeouts before he goes mad.

Both Noah and Cam returned home during the pandemic. Based on the evidence in ‘Ditch Pickle’, the boys are quite happy with their decision. Noah even included a brief California section to remind us (and his sponsors) of what he’s not missing out west. Clever play.
