Watch: Five Minutes Of Sand-Bottom Footage To Feed Your Surf Envy

While Bells is on hold, let’s turn our attention to some local talent.

It’s a lay day at Bells. The wind is howling from the east — nature’s version of spitting in your coffee. So, while the comp site naps under a tarpaulin of bad weather, let’s talk local talent.

Willis Droomer almost made the main event last week, falling just short of Xavier Huxtable in the trials final. Despite lacing multiple air-revs on one wave, Willis was edged out by Xav’s rail-heavy approach, the same one that won him the final QS of the year at Phillip Island a month back.

Willis is 18, sponsored by Bong, fresh out of school, Jan Juc born and bred, and allegedly good at burnouts. Hobbies include surfing freezing, barely habitable specs of land somewhere between South Oz and Antarctica.

If you need a primer on Willis, he has a new clip out — featuring Ollie and Cooper Lens, Angus Hug, and a mystery albino cameo lurking in the credits.

Highly recommended. Perfect snackable watch for a windblown Wednesday.
