“This winter I surfed the least I ever have in my life,” Dane Reynolds admits to Stab. With the arrival of twins girls last year, and the trials and tribulations of building Former from the ground up—alongside old Quik brother Craig Anderson, and old friends and co-conspirators Warren Smith, Austyn Gillette, and Grady Archbold—it’s hard to imagine it being easy finding the time to slip out for an afternoon Emma Wood blitz.

But watching “Copacetic,” the new edit from Former and Dane above, you’d never know most of the sessions were filmed “around naps and stuff.”

“The first six months after the twins were born, it just didn’t seem feasible—it was too gnarly—constant care,” Dane says. “It was a two-person job.”

Anyone suffering through the miracle of childrearing or the labor pains of launching a small biz will understand the lapse in output from Mr. Reynolds, and enjoy the irony in the edit’s title.

“Copacetic means ‘in excellent order,’ which as anyone with three young kids and a small business knows, nothing is ever in excellent order,” Dane says.

Click in to the edit above, and head to the Former site for a look at the new “Copacetic” range designed by Dane.
