Watch: ‘Cult Of Freedom’ – The New Zealand Part
Dion Agius, Creed McTaggart, and Nate Tyler all captured by Joe G in New Zealand.
Welcome to part III of Cult of Freedom – The New Zealand Part, a Globe production.
COF is the best web series in surfing – if we were to host an annual award show at Turtle Bay in early December, we’d hand out some sort of congratulatory placard.
Filmmaker Joe G’s loose narratives of mystical maps, slingshots, quick hitting still photography and damn fine surfing is required viewing. This episode stars Creed Mctaggart, Dion Agius and Nate Tyler, in, well, New Zealand, dodging rain, sheep and sliding into some dreamy setups with backdrops that remind of Frodo Baggins.
Creed, Dion, Nate and a magical portal.
Standing is kind of overrated.
Nate Tyler with the hands of a praise.
“This trip was so fun and New Zealand blew me away,” Joe told Stab. “I’d never been there. Good wine, good cheese, good waves. Right up our alley. The boys were shredding and the place was magical. Kind of a Strange Rumblings vibe to the trip which I was excited to explore in the edit.”
The good news? This series has no end in sight, which is sheer poetry. “We have a Creed part in the works as well… Lots on the way! As long as we are having fun with these we’ll keep doing them. It’s been fun not putting the pressure of one big movie release on ourselves and I’d like to keep that going for a while for sure,” said Joe.
Go ahead and get lost in “The New Zealand Part”. If you’re looking for more by the time of the end credits, we’ve taken the liberty of including “The Taj Part” and the “Australian Part” below. If you watch them all, you might just feel like you watched a full surf film; which, in the era of Instagram killing the film star, almost seems novel… nostalgic even!
