Zack is coming up as a surfer/shaper prodigy in San Diego. At just 12-years-old, young Flores was in the shaping bay with Jim “The Genius” Phillips. Jim has served as his mentor since. Now, Zack’s been in shaping bay for five years; so long that through his long brunette locks with sun-bleached tips, he can’t recall the first time he was covered in foam dust.

“I would see him from afar and trip out on his weird stuff and give him shit when I saw him…you know? like positive reinforcement with a touch of grommet abuse,” says Joel on Zack. “But we only give you shit because we care, because we think you’re cool.”
