That’s One Way to Take-off on a Wave, ft. Ford Archbold
Metal Jimmy must have cut his brake lines.
If you’re not a Metal Neck fangirl like myself (Metal Jimmy is the cutest hehe), you might not recognize the name Ford Archbold. He’s the offspring of high-performance pioneer Matt ‘Archy’ Archbold, and a former child star himself. By professional surfer standards, Ford has maintained a relatively low profile over the last few years. This clip made us wish he’d never wandered outside our collective periphery.
Why, you ask?
Ford surfs fast. Fast like a 16-year-old in a sticker-covered Subaru. And aggressive. Aggressive like that same 16-year-old after a few beers at a house party.
Where Ford contradicts this analogy is with control. Specifically, board control.
While the Subaru kid can’t prevent his own car from sliding into a guard rail, Ford keeps his feet at 10 and 2. Despite the tumuluous Newport beach break, his board is always in check. The take-off at 1:03 proves my point.
