Watch: The Long-Awaited Return of Andrew “Droid” Doheny
A new frame of mind, and a turbo charged clip to go with it.
With the help of Dane Reynolds and Former, Newport native Andrew “Droid” Doheny just released a 14-minute film. Titled Short Circuit, the clip features Droid’s signature thrashing and music from his new album Royal Dog Shit.
Short Circuit also highlights Andrew’s struggles with mental health, mistakes he’s made, and what he’s learned from them. According to Droid, “My brain is working rad right now.”
As for Andrew’s surfing? Razor-sharp. Doheny popped the governor off and let the pedal hit the floor for this one. I haven’t seen him surf this well since Tromberg’s Metal Neck films. The only things sharper than his surfing are the handmade boards he slings around under his shaping handle, SlobCraft.
We all make mistakes, some worse than others. The important thing is how we address those mistakes and use our learnings to steer choices down the road; a concept Doheny has exemplified thoroughly. Well done on the film, Droid (and Dane).
