Prediction: Ethan Ewing Is Going Back-To-Back

Over John’s dead body.

Ethan Ewing performed the near-impossible last week at Bells: he won an event that everyone was hyping him to win.

Despite the fact that he was the best surfer in the comp, and that he had 40 years of familial fate on his side, Ethan still had to go out there and win every heat with the weight of a nation, if not the world, on his shoulders.

And he did it.

This week, Ethan will compete again in the Margaret River Pro. While the Australian’s got no sentimental background at this location (that we know of), local boy Jay Davies has pinned him as the favorite again — even calling out the fact that he could go back-to-back.

On the men’s side of the tour, back-to-back wins are relatively rare. The last person to do it was Jack Robinson last year at Margie’s and G-Land. Before that, it was Italo Ferreira in 2019 at Portugal and Pipe.

Can Ethan join this exclusive group? Time will tell.

Jay likes Molly Pickles on the women’s side, plus a swathe of WA locals as his underdogs. You can make your own picks on Betonline.ag.
