With all this wavepool excitement frazzling our minds, it would be easy to forget how many incredible air sections exist in the ocean.

They may not be “perfect”, and they’re certainly not the same every time, but with the right combination of conditions ocean ramps can launch a surfer far higher than any pool could dream, as it does with Noah Wegrich at the 1:24 mark in the film above.

Backwash is typically hazardous and annoying but on certain occasions it just works, right?

Noah knows what we’re talking about.

Also featured in this film is Central Cal’s most mystical forest elf – the ageless, impossible-not-to-like Nate Tyler.

While Nate’s abilities have showed nary a sign of regression, he’s recently taken on something of a mentor role with Noah, who looks slated to follow Nate’s path of dominating the lefts between Point Conception and San Fran while meticulously maintaining his golden locks in the downtime.

There are worse life trajectories.
