Must-Watch: The New Kelly Slater Doco, Continuance

Oh yeah, amongst the launch of sustainable brands and trying to win a world title, Mr Kelly Slater has thrown a new documentary into the mix. “I think sometimes you need to clarify and define something, state your intentions,” proclaims Kelly at the start. “I want to win a world title this year, and I’m going to give it everything I got.” Part one of Continuance is set on the Gold Coast, and it’s how a profile piece should look: Commentary from friends and competitors close to Kelly (Stephanie Gilmore, Daniel “Tomo” Thomson, etc.), board analysis, breakdown of his competitive mindset both in and out of water, candid narration from the man himself. It’s informative, interesting, and certainly not excessive. A deeper look into everything from how Kirra played a crucial part in inspiring the design of his wave pool to what he does with his many trophies. Oh, and the actual surfing in it is beyond impressive. What else can you expect? It is Kelly after all.
