The sunshine really does shine brightest in the rearview sometimes. This is a clip from the 2000 Mountain Dew Gerry Lopez Pipe Masters, held on December 17, and it is about as good as Pipeline events get. Everything from Kelly Slater and Andy Irons going blow to blow, to Mick Lowe’s weightless fall into a barrel knife so deep he surprised the shit out of himself on exit, to Bruce’s classic laziness beneath the lip, to Dorian-with-hair’s sideways drop, to… shit, it’s all good. If this doesn’t get you juiced for tomorrow, when the Billabong Pipe Masters is set to kick back off in a fresh swell, nothing will. Bravo to Bernard Testemale for slicing this and posting.
