Mateus Herdy Knows How To Captivate An Audience
Introducing a proficient young aerialist from Brazil.
I acted like I was working, but my eyes were focused way beyond the screen of my soon-to-be sleeping laptop.
I sipped Costa Rican dark roast and watched attentively as the diverse group of fluttering surfers took turns detonating themselves on the sandbar out back. Given their matching colored shirts, it was difficult at times to single out who was who. However, one surfer that never left the lip unidentified was Mateus Herdy.
The question “Who was that?” never applied to the 20-year-old Brazilian phenom. When he punted for the heavens, you knew it was him.
Mateus was truly a distinguished figure in the lineup, despite being surrounded by free surfing’s elite. He moved quicker, floated higher, and found more landings than most others at Vans Stab High, Central America, presented by Monster Energy. His athleticism was highlighted by four-hour sessions with little signs of fatigue.
