Los Fearless: Kolohe Andino

How cool’s Los Fearless? Part-campaign, part-cult, at the core of the concept is Nike’s unique way of promoting the release of a couple of new kicks, (like the Kobe VI’s). But it’s also more than that: In secret locations like warehouses around LA, selected players and media persons are given weekly instructions, like “come to this address”, “design your team uniform”, and “be here next week, ready to play.” Invitees engage in two-on-two games during the all-stars weekend, adorned in new Nike product. The name, Los Fearless, is a reference to both Los Angeles and the fear all players feel come crunch time. How does 17-year-old Californian, Kolohe Andino, fit into all of this? K–Lo is Nike’s most visible surfer, and as a competitor can relate to Los Fearless. Among sympathising with non-surfers, being well-travelled, hailing from the O.C, loving home, hating losing, using fear to his advantage and admiring Kobe Bryant, Kolohe also throws the tastiest of stalefishes and rotates like a spinning top. But you’ll find that out, soon enough.
