Leave It To Clay Marzo To Do The Most Remarkable Non-Air Surfing In The Pool

Layback barrels, layback turns, Clay Marzo has the core strength of 400 Serbian Crossfitters.

Snapt4 is not fucking around when it comes to this whole movie-making business.

Currently, they’ve got a charter boat in the Ments with a number of high-profile surfers onboard. Earlier this year, they did a multi-stage strike to the greatest swell the inner-Caribbean has seen. And just a couple months back, they rented out Waco for a few days of outrageous artificial waveriding. That’s what you’ll be watching above.

The cast is pure class. Clay Marzo, Mason Ho, the Moniz bros, Sheldon, Eithan, Benji, Salmon Boy, etc.

Highlights include: a few humungous big-spin attempts by Eithan, some wild body varial/flip by Josh Moniz, Mason’s wall-ride attempts, and Clay’s incomprehensible tube and turn-adapted laybacks (seriously, check the one at 6:35).

Naturally, these are all the clips that will not make it into the final film.

They’re calling this piece Snapt High, and we can’t help but adore.

P.S. Interesting sidenote: in reference to our Futures/FCS debate the other day, I found it fascinating that while Clay’s Futures boxes blew out on his back during a botched varial attempt, Mason’s FCS2s remained fully intact despite repeatedly slamming his skegs into a wall. Food for thought.
