Hugh Warner
One of the biggest Backdoor peaks we’ve ever seen 😉
“I grew up in Jan Juc obsessed with surfing. One of a few goofyfoots in the land of rights, I would shoot myself & mates on a handy cam, making shitty movies called right foot forward. I would froth out when all the pros came to town for Bells & shoot them too. That’s where it all started,” says Hugh.
Hugh landed his first gig with Quiksilver at 20 in graphics and post-production. After finishing his arts degree at Swinburne he got a gig with Nike (then parent company of Hurley) in their Sydney marketing department. When Nike asked him to relocate to Melbourne, Hugh decided it was time to get back into surf, “where I belonged,” laughs Hugh.
Currently, Hugh works as Rip Curl’s lead editor in Torquay, shooting whenever he can. “Over the last few years I have really fallen in love with working behind the lens. I have been lucky enough to travel to some pretty cool places, and work with some amazing people.” Hugh is also a talented musician who made the soundtrack in this clip, he’s also “kinda obsessed with making silly movies with one of my best mates. Nearly always on a Green Screen. We call ourselves Deep Seen.”
