How Bruce Irons Lost The Pipe Masters In The Dying Seconds
Vintage Snaketales strikes again!
In recent years, Jake “The Snake” Paterson has become one of the most instrumental players in the wider surfing orchestra.
After a professional career that included wins at Pipeline and Jeffrey’s Bay, Jake has adapted his skill set to develop the next generation of CT talents.
Namely, he’s responsible for the recent successes of Zeke Lau, Kanoa Igarashi, and Griffin Colapinto.
And on top of all that, Jake has developed a highly viewed, widely adored film series called Snaketales, wherein all the ups and downs of his clients’ competitive escapades are documented for public viewing. It’s a rare insight to the world of professional surfing that captures the attention of many.
And Jake’s done so well with all of his recent work, has made himself so likable and accessible, that it’s easy to forget how close he once was to the top of the surfing totem pole.
Like back in 1998, when Jake won the Pipe Masters over a 17-year-old Bruce Irons by doggy-dooring a Backdoor froth monster on the buzzer.
