After a few lackluster events in terms of wave quality, Fiji’s finally bringing waves at QS 1000 quality… hopefully. The only draw back is the kava tastes like “soapy… no, muddy dishwater,” according to Mr Slater, who for the first time this season is stoked to get some proper waves. Essentially, kava’s not pleasant. “When it rains on the dirt roads, it’s the same thing,” says Filipe Toledo. But, hell the rest of Tavarua’s just dreamy. The comp’s looking ready to kick off, soon! Just be thankful, it’s not Rio… although thus far, the girls got better waves…
