Dead Kooks’ Shaper Eden Saul Justifies The Need For Alternative Surfboards
“You wouldn’t play a whole round of golf with a 3 iron.”
Eden Saul, the man behind Dead Kooks surfboards, has spent his career cranking out mesmerizing alternative surfboards.
For this reason, we invited him to shape a couple of boards for the Electric Acid Surf Board Test featuring Mason and Coco Ho. Saul delivered two of his Ying-Yang Twin Fin models, which he breaks down in his shaper profile we produced in partnership with Tolago Hard Seltzer (see below for giveaway details).
The boards Saul made were longer than most of the others in the quiver, were made for both larger days and minuscule ripples. According to Mason, “It makes you feel like you’re ripping, no matter what.”
When discussing alternative surfboards in general, Eden Saul says “I don’t care how cool the thing looks under your arm,” he says “if you bog on rail going down the line, you’re a kook.”
