Dylan Graves, Mikey February, And An Unidentified Sand Cylinder Factory
A critical analysis on the absurdity of chasing wind across the ocean.
The most recent episode of Dylan Graves and Vans’ flagship YouTube series ‘Weird Waves,’ aired roughly 10 months ago. In the time since then, Dylan has fired up his personal YouTube channel and scored Japan, Poland, Sardinia, Japan (again), an Australia novelty triangle, and now a sand-bottom point whose location shall not be disclosed.
In each case, he offers a creative presentation of his aquatic accomplishments — and his latest endeavor is a continuation of that trend.
Alongside 14-minutes of finding and scoring deeply enviable sand-bottom funnels, Dylan offers a unique analysis on the folly of flying across the world hoping that wind shapes the ocean the way you want it to.
“Through the absurdity and delusion of it all, there’s a magic,” says Dylan. “The kind that makes you feel alive, and tortures you in all the right ways. There’s no better curriculum to life, in my opinion. From the planning, to the overanalyzing, to the energy depletion… even though all these feel ridiculous on land, once you’re in the water around these silly cylinders, this all feels right.”
