Click or Miss: A Vlog With An Impressively Positive Impact

A gentle reminder to pick up your f**king trash.

Digital creators often talk about ‘using their platforms to make the world a better place’.

I rarely see this actually occur.

Vlogging is an inherently vain endeavor and one that requires the person to be in a constant state of self promotion. Finding a way to do that effectively while also creating positive change is a difficult line to toe. Thankfully for us (as well as all fans of enviornmentalism/big wave surfing) Kai Lenny has never been one to back away from a challenge.

Using his de-commissioned Coast Guard boat, Kai Lenny got his friends/family together for a remote beach cleanup on a rocky and inaccessible side of Maui. The result? Over two tons of trash removed from what is a picturesque and biologically rich sliver of Hawaii.

While some creators would find an easy way out to tick their yearly ‘altruism’ box, this video comes off as entirely genuine. It’s hard to fake hand picking this much garbage, and the fact that they are smiling throughout shows just how much appreciation Kai has for his home.

Anyways, thats my two cents. Click (or miss) below.

While we touched on the bulk of this above, one aspect of this video that shan’t go unnoticed is the size of the trucks Kai just got for his Raptor. 60 inchers? Imagine seeing this man pull up to Jaws what will be a behemoth of a vehicle, white long sleeve rash guard billowing as he blows past the infamous pineapple fields only to pull in to an 80-foot tube and (probably, but hopefully not) crash a jet ski or two. What a life.

This video has little bit of everything. Skydiving over Pipeline, a highlight reel of one of the best edits of the year, and an inside look into how the Smith Bros’ infamous Sunrise Shack pumps out one of the North Shore’s best Cup-a-Joes (hint: a lot of trial and error). Don’t miss :53 for a John Florence Backdoor runner, and lastly: how does Jack Robinson get away with having a super model wife and not knowing when Valentines Day is?

This year’s South Swell season has gotten off to fiery start, something that has benefited us greatly both directly via our own projects as well as indirectly by providing an ample amount of content upon which to gorge. Nathan and Ivan Florence have been stationed in Mexico for the majority of it, and have likely begun growing gills as a result of their inhumane levels of water time. Beefs.TV is the Mecca of Wedge clips. Countless hours of watching people roll the dice in hoping to squeeze themselves out of the end of So-Cal’s most notoriously clampy wave means plenty of wipeout clips. The above 14.5 minutes is just from Spring ’21. Whenever the inevitable documentary on the Wedge is finally made, you know who to call… In the meantime, the above should suffice all your surf-gore wants/needs.

Two weeks ago was the first week I pawned off Click or Miss in over six months. Jack did a great job, and he included what was Jacob ‘Zeke’ Szekely’s first re-branded vlog on his channel now titled OFF THE CHAIN. I called Zeke’s strategy awhile back as leaning in to the gap where a millennial Jackass could potentially live. While you may hate him for it, his channel has seen a 20+ percent increase in 14 days. We hate cliches, but really: don’t hate the player. hate the game. If you hate Zeke, click through to 12:55 for what is a sensational and creative way to fuck yourself up on a full pipe.
