Yes, Carlos Muñoz is the first ever Central American to surf in a WCT event. Yes, he had to face world ratings leader Gabriel Medina in that very first heat on the big stage. And, yes, you’ve already seen the steps Carlos took in preparation for the big day. But in Part two of the first episode of Next Level, we see the only thing that actually matters: the surfing. Carlos and friends take us through the thrill ride that was the 2014 Hurley Pro at Lower Trestles, complete with emotion and insight. Though it ends in an eventual loss, we’re sure there’s more to come. It’s only a matter of time before this kid qualifies for real.
