British Columbia Is Dark, Damp, And Frigid; Just How Pete Devries Likes It
Four hours of light in a day makes surfing rather difficult.
Between the months of November and January, Canada’s westernmost province, British Columbia, averages four hours of daylight, 6.5 inches of rain (per month), and 40-degrees Fahrenheit.
These obstacles make surfing in B.C. a rather trying pursuit, but they’ve never stopped Pete Devries, Noah Cohen, and friends from searching via boats, automobiles, and hiking boots for those fleeting, two-hour windows of fun.
The video above portrays the reality of Canada’s winter surfing experience: dark, damp, and frigid. While those three adjectives have a generally negative connotation in surfing, something tells us Pete and his crew wouldn’t have it any other way.
Keeps the crowds down, at the very least.
