Brad Domke drained at Jaws with fins

What happens when the finless man grabs a rhino chaser and hunts the Pe’ahi dragon? Can the King Of Quirk mix it with the big boys without a jetski? Well, turns out he can. Mr Domke’s a professional skimboarder, maybe the smartest or the maddest, but he’s made a big name for himself in the surf world by whipping into massive Puerto Escondido, Nazarè, Chopes and the Right on his disc. It shouldn’t be a surprise the cat can surf just fine with fins. On Friday, Jaws looked like Superbank in terms of crowds, the new “swell of the decade” was declared and Aaron Gold scraped into the biggest wave ever paddled. Just remember a skimboarder from the East Coast wrangled a demon like this. “It felt like a bit of fate,” Mr Domke tells Stab. “After all the years of trying to go hard on the skim in big waves, it was time to have a turning point. I’ve been cruising in Maui with Francisco and Niccolo Porcella they’ve been really showing me the ropes on the island. All the build up to that wave was from hanging out with those guys and getting amped up. They were getting some bombs that day. That was the paddle wave of my life.”
