A Cinematic Travel Diary w/ Dion Agius In Portugal

Shot on nothing but a wee GoPro!

The GoPro has progressed considerably since its initial handheld inception. While GoPro’s always being at the forefront of filming locations you can’t risk nor carry expensive gear, until recently, they’d never competed against the upper echelons of cinematography tech.

This short visual diary courtesy of Beren Hall in Portugal is a prime example of their recent improvements. One minute in length, this short displays the functions and qualities that a GoPro is capable of in 2018. It’s no longer just a cam you use to grab a low res frame from, it’s of such a standard that the typically relied upon RED seems near redundant.

If you’re visiting here, chances are your interests lie primarily in capturing surf – which the Go Pro evidently does well. What the above also exhibits is the Pro’s out of ocean depth – lifestyle, scenery, and the odd slow motion cut – the GoPro’s capable of it al.

“Hard drives fry, power cords change, and phones get dunked.” Beren Hall said. “Our own personal memories are fragile, fleeting, private. But for the travelling surfer or filmmaker like myself, our modern day scrapbook is the highlight reel, a first person account captured in GoPro’s crystal clarity and uploaded for all time.

“I never leave home without one.”
