We’re Having Trouble Picking Snapt4’s ‘Best Barrel’ and Monster ‘Maneuver’

Snapt4 took 15 of the world’s best surfers, extracted their best clips from the past 2 years, and gave them a violent shake to the tune of Metallica, Andre Nickatina, and Queens of the Stone Age.

Just two weeks after going live on the interwebs, the film has amassed over 200k views on Youtube alone. Go figure. Good music and great surfing draws a crowd.

Surfers were incentivized to perform in this film not just to stroke their own egos, but for the $50k grand prize, which will be given to the surfer with the ‘best section’, as chosen by three former Snapt stars: Mick Fanning, Taj Burrow, and Bobby Martinez. Over the last few weeks, this iconic trio has watched the film and graded each section on a 1-10 scale. Once all the scores are in, they’ll be tabulated by director Logan Dulien, who will then throw a fat bag of cash at the winner…assuming their part follows the official Snapt4 guidelines.

But it’s not just the best part that gets paid. Sections that finish second and third will also get a splash of cash, as do the surfers who win the ‘Best Barrel’ and ‘Monster Maneuver’ categories. Those last two, however, will be chosen not by Mick, Bobby, and Taj, but the Stab staff. That’s us.

After some back-and forth with Logan, we’ve whittled the 50-minute film down to the following 17 barrels and 13 maneuvers, comprising our official nominees. Have a look below, and let us know who you think should win the dual $10k prizes. We may or may not take your thoughts into consideration.
