Welcome To The Samsung ASP World Tour

Those announcements just keep coming, yes? Latest in: Samsung is now the title sponsor of the ASP World Tour. Take that, Apple! (We kid!) Between the ASP’s new digi presence, new commentary team, new schedule, new Big Wave World Tour, and now Samsung’s umbrella, we’re certainly coming up on the most (choose word: planned / polished / sold-out / professional / commercial / accomplished) year of competitive surfing we’ve seen. What this means, really, is that the electronics co. supports not just individual events, but surfing’s governing body as a whole. For the first time ever, everything from production, to athlete servicing, to media, marketing, sponsorship and broadcast will be managed by ASP (with the support of Samsung). Does your knee jerk uncomfortably at the ASP’s new cosmetic flourishes? Pull yourself outta yesterday, then. It’s dark back there. This is change. And whether it’s good or bad, change is necessary. A few extra logos are nothing to be sore about, because reading between the lines, this means: Happier and more excited competitors, which will in turn mean elevated performances. And even more directly: Get to know the smoothest webcast you’ve ever had the pleasure of. One dedicated team to deliver you the same standard feed from every event. Now all we need is J-Bay back.
