The week’s podcast is a bit of a curveball, as we have combined our news based show ‘The Drop’ with our competitive surf analysis ‘The Cusp’.

If you want to hear about all of surfing’s weekly updates, push play and carry on. If you’re more interested in Mikey and Stace’s Olympic surf rundown, feel free to skip to 50:00.

News

Buck and Danny are up to their usual antics, this time with blow-ins from around the globe. Last week we asked you guys to send in detailed voice memos of your most horrific surf crimes. The responses were hilarious and included everything from intentional burns to one guy without the heart to tell Conner Coffin that he blew the last set.

And is John John taking some time off from the WSL? Since his knee hasn’t fully recovered, his performance at the Olympics was pretty underwhelming. The question as to whether or not he’ll finish out this year CT has yet to be answered, but Danny and Buck have some interesting theories.

Our Reaction To Surfing’s Olympic Debut

There’s plenty of conflicting opinions around whether surfing belongs in the Olympic Games. Our competitive surf fanatics, Michael Ciaramella and Stace Galbraith, broke down everything they took away from it. In summary: Italo Ferreira is an unstoppable force.

Also, the general public’s interest in surfing really spiked over the last week. Mikey somehow snuck his way onto the clout train and answered some questions during an interview with BBC News. The real question is, did he wear a shirt?

Listen here and find out.
